Les Rencontres Exclusives

December 13, 2018

Starting September 6th, 2018, Xavier Thuizat, the oenological expert of the Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel, offers his guests the chance to discover treasures from the establishment’s wine collection.

Xavier Thuizat will host his guests at Chef Christopher Hache’s table, in the Hôtel de Crillon’s La Cave, one of the most privileged locations at this historical address, surrounded by 2000 bottles of the finest Grands Crus.

In groups of 12, guests can come face to face with the delicate and powerful nose of the Head Sommelier. During the educational and gastronomical aperitifs, he will present the singular and prestigious vineyards accompanied by Chef Christopher Hache’s culinary bites.

These privileged two-hour moments are the opportunity to discover La Cave and its hidden treasures.
Xavier Thuizat is renowned for the quality and relevance of his selections. His primary focus at the Hôtel de Crillon was to reconstitute this historical wine cellar and create one of the best places for wine in the capital. Xavier Thuizat’s expertise was also put to use in creating a divine complement to Chef Christopher Hache’s cuisine, in the heart of the gastronomical restaurant L’Ecrin. He has a talent for introducing the most surprising unions to gourmet palates, from traditional red wine to startling Japanese sake, by way of the prestigious Pu’er tea from China.

Fronted by the majestic architecture of Ange-Jacques Gabriel, Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel overlooks the spectacular Place de la Concorde, one of the most beautiful city squares in the world. Built at Louis XV’s request, the hotel became the residence of the illustrious Count de Crillon and his family for many years and was transformed into a hotel in 1909 under the guidance of architect Walter-André Destailleur. Since then, its guest list has featured celebrities, politicians, artists, princes and queens, all attracted to the hotel’s unique and perennial reputation for excellence. Hôtel de Crillon has long since secured its iconic status as a one-of-a-kind property, a living testament to the very best way of life France has to offer. Following a four-year transformation, the hotel reopened in 2017 and now boasts 124 guestrooms and suites, four restaurants, Sense, A Rosewood Spa, a newly created swimming pool, three heritage landmark salons for meetings and functions, and more.
