Edible Santa Fe today announced the results of its annual Local Hero Awards, which recognize local individuals and organizations for their work to create healthy, sustainable food systems in New Mexico. This year, the Anasazi Restaurant’s Executive Chef Edgar Beas won Best Chef in Santa Fe for his efforts to support the local economy and food system through his close partnerships with the area’s farmers and food purveyors.
“We are delighted that Chef Edgar was named one of Edible Santa Fe’s Local Heroes for 2018,” said Gabor L. Vida, managing director of Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi. “Since Chef Edgar arrived, he’s found inspiration in the region’s produce and culinary history, and he has supported countless food
growers in and around Santa Fe. We are always proud of his work in the community and are overjoyed that this esteemed publication has recognized him as the best chef in Santa Fe.”
Chef Edgar joined the Anasazi Restaurant, Bar and Lounge in 2015 and has created a food philosophy rooted in the native culture and traditions in Santa Fe. The restaurant’s menus fuse old world techniques with modern, innovative recipes and artful plating, and they are consistently changing and adapting to reflect the freshest, most seasonal ingredients found in and around Santa Fe.
In fall 2017, readers of Edible Santa Fe nominated and voted for their favorite restaurants, chefs, food artisans, food growers and advocates in 23 different categories. The winners of each category will be celebrated at a special awards ceremony on March 4, and they will also be spotlighted in issues of Edible Santa Fe throughout 2018.
About Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi
Located in downtown Santa Fe, steps from the historic Santa Fe Plaza, Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi ® is an intimate world-class vacation retreat and New Mexico’s most lauded hotel. Since it was established in 1991, the Inn has set the standard for luxury and service among small city hotels. The 58-room boutique hotel unveiled a full guestroom reimagination in 2014 to embrace a more modern, sophisticated aesthetic, while still celebrating the enduring creative spirit of the region’s Native Americans. The guestroom design beautifully complements the Inn’s legendary décor and architecture, including works by local artisans, massive hand-carved doors, sculptured stairways and sandstone walls that whisper of prehistoric Pueblo living.
The world-renowned Anasazi Restaurant, Bar and Lounge was reimagined in 2015 to boast a chic, new design as well as the addition of a new lounge area and a dedicated tequila table. To complement the stunning new look, the restaurant’s menus epitomize modern Southwestern cuisine, featuring the strong ingredients and flavors of the Southwest. Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi has been honored four times with the prestigious AAA Four-Diamond Award, the highest accolade presented by AAA to hotels and restaurants based on facilities, amenities and service. Among its other esteemed honors this year, Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi placed onto Condé Nast Traveler’s prestigious Gold List, received several accolades from Travel + Leisure’s 2013 World’s Best list and was named one of the “Best Hotels in the U.S.” by U.S. News & World Report.
