The eco-friendly, vintage-inspired items showcase the iconic beachfront property’s signature hues for a one-of-a-kind amenity and memento
November 16, 2021
Rosewood Little Dix Bay, Virgin Gorda’s beloved and stunning island escape, invites guests to relax and unwind in style with the launch of their exclusive resort wear collection in partnership with New York apparel brand Frolic + Detour. Today, in keeping with their shared commitment to promoting sustainability and relaxed luxury, the two brands have come together to create a unique keepsake for guests that immerses them in the property’s distinctive laid-back island lifestyle.
Inspired by the beautiful setting and unique spirit of the resort, the new collection features a luxuriously soft terry cloth cabana set consisting of a button-down shirt and shorts, as well as a matching kimono, with each item showcasing the resort’s signature blue and white colorway. The unisex pieces were designed for guests to wear from day to night whether lounging by the pool or the beach, enjoying a meal or cocktail, or exploring the area and surrounding islands. The stylish apparel is the latest amenity for guests of the resort’s top accommodations, including the Two Bedroom Suites and three standalone villas, consisting of Columbus House, Laurance House, and Villa Joy. Those looking to purchase this limited edition and exclusive piece of paradise may also inquire online via Frolic + Detour’s e-commerce platform.
Similar to the atmosphere at Rosewood Little Dix Bay, Frolic + Detour takes inspiration from the vintage beach and poolside fashion of the 1950s and 60s. The brand seeks to recapture the timeless style of classic pool robes and terry cloth cabana suits but updated in modern designs and materials that are both chic and sustainable. To do so, Frolic + Detour has developed their own signature terry cloth fabric made from the highest quality most eco-friendly materials available.
“We are always looking for new ways to surprise and delight our guests while simultaneously showcasing our core values, and when we came across Frolic + Detour, it was evident that our shared synergies would allow us to create something exceptional together,” said Andreas Pade, managing director of Rosewood Little Dix Bay. “As an island resort sustainability is incredibly important to us, and we are proud to support Frolic + Detour’s mission of creating an environmentally-conscious luxury product. We are thrilled to share this collection with our guests and friends and look forward to following along as our community finds their Frolic!”
The inside of each Frolic + Detour item is a loop terry cloth towelling made from sustainably-sourced natural fibers, and the outside is an uber-soft velour made from post-consumer recycled plastic. In further efforts toward sustainability, the brand takes a slow-fashion approach to production where collections are produced locally in small batches and items are pre-sold before the manufacturing process begins, allowing for reduced waste. In partnership with the non-profit organization, 1% for the Planet, Frolic + Detour also donates one percent of gross sales to support ocean cleanups, marine conservation and other environmental initiatives.
“When we started Frolic + Detour, we set out to bring an air of refinement and sophistication to people's leisure attire. Rosewood Little Dix Bay perfectly captures this vision, and we cannot think of a more perfect place to wear our leisurewear sets,” said Ryan Mahoney, Co-founder and CEO of Frolic + Detour. “When we started working with Rosewood on this partnership, it was clear right away that our sense of style and values around sustainability were aligned. It really felt like kismet. We worked together to pull inspiration from both the resort’s design and the natural beauty of the destination, and the final product is a one-of-a-kind collection perfectly suited for the resort that truly embodies the idea of whimsical luxury.”

About Frolic + Detour
Frolic + Detour (F+D) is a New York City-based clothing brand on a mission to elevate leisurewear. Born of corporate burnout and taking its name from the old-timey legal term for when people leave their jobs to do their own thing, the brand has declared war on the daily grind and makes clothing that inspires people to unplug, relax, and make time for the moments in life that matter most. F+D's breakout first collection is inspired by beach and poolside fashion of the 1950s and 60s, recapturing the vintage swagger of pool robes and terry cloth cabana suits of the era, updated in modern designs and eco-friendly materials. The collection features the brand's signature Terracloth™ fabric—an ultra-soft and lightweight terry cloth velour made from sustainably-sourced beechwood and recycled plastic bottles. Much like the lifestyle they espouse, F+D takes a slow fashion approach to production, manufacturing high-quality pieces in small batches locally in New York's Garment District and pre-selling styles before going into production. Frolic + Detour’s newly-launched collection is available for purchase online at www.frolicanddetour.com. Follow them on Instagram and TikTok @frolicdetour.
