Rosewood Bartender Guest Shift Series
Rosewood Miyakojima introduces a new program, the Bartender Guest Shift Series, welcoming renowned bartenders from Japan and around the world to the poolside bar YUKUU. Designed as a cultural exchange through the medium of cocktails, the series serves as a platform that connects global perspectives with the quiet spirit and deep-rooted traditions of Miyakojima.
For its inaugural edition, we are honored to host Satoshi Sugiura, Bar Manager of El Lequio, a celebrated Okinawan bar featured in the extended list of Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2023. On December 27, 2025, for one night only, guests will be invited to savor a bespoke cocktail menu that weaves together the heritage of Ryukyu and the vibrant cultures of South America.
Leading the bar experience at Rosewood Miyakojima are Utaro Izaki, Bar Manager, and Mattia Patruno, Assistant Bar Manager.
Izaki brings nearly two decades of experience shaping the hotel bar culture of Tokyo’s luxury scene, where he pioneered innovative programs and collaborations with distinguished bartenders from Japan and abroad. Now based in Miyakojima, he continues to elevate the identity of YUKUU, MAAS, and CHOMA through narrative-driven mixology that thoughtfully incorporates the island’s culture and traditions.
Patruno, originally from Rome, has cultivated an international career across Italy and the United Kingdom, including bar leadership within Relais & Châteaux and recognition in national competitions. His global sensibility and passion bring a fresh energy to the resort’s three bars.
