Cambodia celebrates a milestone as Sora Bar becomes the first bar in the country to make the list
July 03, 2025
Sora Bar at Rosewood Phnom Penh has been ranked 65 in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 51 to 100 for 2025, a milestone moment for Cambodia’s fast-evolving bar scene. Sora is the first and only Cambodian bar to appear on the prestigious list, highlighting the country’s progress in hospitality and placing Phnom Penh firmly on the map for world-class cocktails.
Perched on the 37th floor of Rosewood Phnom Penh, Sora is known for its sweeping skyline views, bold cocktails and vibrant programming. Its inclusion on the list follows a strong couple of years in which the bar has become a cornerstone of Cambodia’s emerging cocktail culture. Since opening, Sora has hosted an impressive line-up of regional and international guest shifts, and this year launched the inaugural Phnom Penh Cocktail Festival, further cementing its role as a hub for industry exchange and collaboration. These efforts have opened valuable pathways for local talent and placed the capital on the radar of cocktail enthusiasts across Asia.
Earlier this year, Sora unveiled Alchemy of Anime, an imaginative twelve-drink collection inspired by iconic manga heroes. Conceived by former bar manager KT Lam and brought to life by the bar team, each cocktail blends Japanese ingredients such as shiso, yuzu and matcha with distinctive Cambodian elements like wild honey and Kampot pepper. Illustrated menus, comic book-style coasters and playful garnishes guide guests through a story-driven experience that celebrates both manga culture and Phnom Penh’s creative cocktail scene.
“We are incredibly honoured to see Sora recognised so high on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 51–100 list. This is a proud moment not just for Rosewood Phnom Penh, but for Cambodia’s hospitality scene,” said Daniel Simon, Managing Director, Rosewood Phnom Penh. “It reflects the creativity, passion and dedication of our team, as well as the vibrant energy of the local bar community. This recognition is not only for Sora, but for Cambodia. We hope it inspires continued growth, collaboration and innovation across the country’s cocktail culture.”
The Asia’s 50 Best Bars 51 to 100 list is compiled by industry experts across Asia, recognising excellence, creativity and impact in the region’s bar landscape. Sora’s entry onto the list places it among some of the most innovative and influential drinking destinations in the world.
