Café Carlyle is pleased to welcome China Forbes for a five-night engagement, April 14 - 18. A singer, songwriter, and performer of remarkable range, Forbes brings her intimate storytelling and worldly musical sensibility to the Café Carlyle stage.
Born and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Forbes graduated cum laude from Harvard University before launching a career that spans theater, songwriting, and recording. She released her debut solo album Love Handle in 1995 and soon after joined Pink Martini, fronting the ensemble ever since and co-writing many of its most beloved songs, including “Sympathique (Je ne veux pas travailler),” “Hang on Little Tomato,” and “Hey Eugene.” Her voice and music have appeared in acclaimed films and television series such as Emily in Paris, The White Lotus, Sherlock, and Parks and Recreation.
In 2024, Forbes released her third solo album, The Road, featuring the anthems “Full Circle” and “Rise.” A recipient of the 2022 Ella Fitzgerald Award at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, she returns to the stage during a sabbatical from Pink Martini, offering evenings of warmth, elegance, and deeply personal songs at Café Carlyle.
