This November, Rosewood Mayakoba invites guests to experience Día de Muertos—a heartfelt celebration of memory, tradition, and color. Honoring the timeless Mexican holiday, our resort transforms into a vibrant stage of rituals, music, and symbolic offerings.
Guests are welcomed to walk among luminous neon alebrijes, join the community ofrenda, or altar, adorned with marigolds and candles, and participate in immersive workshops such as traditional catrina face painting. The celebration also includes live music, festive beachfront gatherings, and the luminous procession through the mangroves.
A highlight of the festivities is the Lights of the Ancestors ceremony, where guests release floating candle rafts into the lagoon—an unforgettable tribute to loved ones who have passed. From our special cena negra, or black dinner, beneath the sacred Ceiba tree to joyful processions and vibrant flavors by the sea, each moment is designed to honor life, memory, and the spirit of Mexico.
